The ACM holds an anually Linux Install-Fest. The purpose of this event is to encourage students to use Linux.
The short answer is: everyone!
The professors in the Computer Science department use Linux at home, at their office, and for their classes. Thus, it is advantageous for students to install Linux along side Windows for class use.
In addition to Computer Science students, the Computer Science Professors also try and get all students and faculty to give Linux a try. There are Live CDs for those who don't want to install Linux, but do want to try Linux. You insert these CDs and power up the computer. The computer will load Linux off of the CD and the user can then try Linux. When the computer is powered down and the CD is removed, the computer is back to normal. Thus, we try and get all people to at least try a Live CD of Linux.
